Mandarmani is a beach resort in Purba Medinipur district of South Bengal, one of the southern districts of West Bengal. It is almost 180km from Kolkata and just 15km from Chaulkhola on the Kolkata-Digha route. Thousand small crabs crawl around the 13 kms long virgin beach making it look like a simmering field of the red flower mandar. Years ago the resemblance ignited the imagination of the locals, they named it Mandarboni. In course of time it has become Mandarmoni.

Overview of the destination
We have recently visited mandarmani,( from 1st october 2010 to 3rd oct 2010), its a superb place and i am spellbound at its beauty. Its so serene and an ideal place to relax and enjoy holidays. The 9 km long drivable beach with waves lashing the shores on one side and resorts being located on the other side is a special attraction.We stayed at Digante for 2 nights and on the 2nd day we went to tajpur, Shankarpur, Digha, Udaypur and Talsari. Digante is a nice play to stay and we are very satisfied at the service of the staff members. I took my 90 yr old grandfather but didnt face any problem.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Regarding sightseeing there is a Mohona where the sea merges with a river and on the background one can see the Tajpur beach. There are 2 ways to reach Tajpur from Mandarmani. The boats at Mohona can take one to the Tajpur beach within few mins and if you are intending to go by car then its 25km drive from Mandarmani. Tajpur is a virgin beach and one can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of sea.
